Sombre Christmas for Gaza as Israeli strikes kill 27

Views:

Israel continued its deadly strikes on Gaza on Christmas Day, with 27 people killed during predawn attacks, according to media reports.

In southern Khan Younis, at least 10 people lost their lives, and several others were injured when a house was bombed in the Maen area.

Israeli forces also attacked northern Gaza’s Kamal Adwan Hospital, with bullets penetrating the ICU and maternity department.

The facility is now nonoperational due to relentless strikes and explosions, turning the area into a war zone and blocking all movements in and out of the hospital.

The north now lacks proper access to healthcare, as the Indonesian Hospital, the largest facility in the region, is also out of service.

Yemen’s Houthis said Wednesday that they had fired a ballistic missile at central Israel, with Israeli forces saying they intercepted the attack.

About 1,100 Christians live in Gaza, a community severely impacted by Israel’s war on the enclave, since October 7 last year.

They marked a second sombre Christmas, without the sparkling lights,  festive decorations, and towering Christmas tree that had graced Gaza City for decades.

Christians in the occupied West Bank city of Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus, cancelled celebrations for the second year running and prayed for the victims of Israel’s genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
