Mia Khalifa has launched an obscene attack on Columbia University, likely over the recent crackdown on pro-Palestine activism on its campus that came to a dramatic escalation recently with the Trump administration’s detention of Palestinian green card holder Mahmoud Khalil, a case that has rocked the United States and raised fundamental questions about the freedom of speech there.
Post on X, formerly Twitter in an apparent comment on the developments, Khalifa wrote: “f*** Colombia University, fascist f**** [Sic].
Khalifa drew mixed reactions, with some mocking her mispelling of the university’s name, confusing it with the country of Colombia.
Mia Khalifa is a Lebanese-American former adult film actress turned activist and social media influencer.
Khalifa, who garners millions of followers on her social media platforms, has gained attention in recent years after she waded into politics and social issues.Â
She has also been expressing strong views in support of the Palestinian people during Israel’s war on Gaza, earning her the ire of supporters of the Jewish state and its genocidal actions in the occupied Palestinian territories.
In October, US adult entertainment enterprise Playboy announced it had cut ties with Mia Khalifa for statements she made after Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel.
Mahmoud Khalil, who holds legal permanent resident status was arrested Saturday and ordered deported by the Trump administration, He has been a prominent figure in Columbia’s pro-Palestinian student protest movement that set off campus demonstrations across the United States and around the world last year.
A US judge on Wednesday ordered that Khalil not be deported for now as part of US President Donald Trump’s crackdown on some pro-Palestinian  protesters.
Trump publicly denounced Khalil and said more arrests would follow. Khalil has been moved to a federal jail for migrants in Louisiana to await deportation proceedings.
Columbia University has since been accused by free speech advocates of enabling the crackdown.Â
The university said on Thursday it punished a number of students relating to the Gaza War protests of April 2024, including suspending and expulsing them, as well as temporarily revoking their degrees.
The university said it disciplined the students following a review of the “severity of behaviour at these events”. Columbia declined to state the number of students being disciplined and did not provide their names to protect their privacy.
Columbia has claimed that the students who barricaded themselves inside Hamilton Hall (renamed by protestors Hind’s Hall for slain Palestinian girl Hind Rajab) in April last year engaged in acts of vandalism and several were arrested by police who were called to the scene at the time.
