Did Nancy Ajram’s latest X post confirm her divorce?

Lebanese pop star Nancy Ajram has sparked widespread speculation about a potential divorce from her husband, Dr Fadi El Hachem, following a cryptic post on social media that left fans and media abuzz.

Nancy, widely known as the ‘Queen of Arab Pop,’ posted on X: “When a chapter ends, our souls begin writing a new chapter. This is the law of life.”

The enigmatic words immediately sparked rumours across social media, with many interpreting them as a sign of a marital separation.

Adding fuel to the fire, a photograph resurfaced of Ajram enjoying a meal with her children while Dr El Hachem was absent. Fans quickly circulated the image, speculating that the couple may have parted ways.

Several unverified reports emerged, claiming that the couple had quietly ended their 17-year marriage due to ongoing disagreements. One source suggested that the separation occurred in 2022, with Ajram now living with her daughters in the coastal area of Sahila.

The same source also hinted that their marriage had been civil, suggesting that an official announcement of the separation might come soon.

However, as the rumours spiralled, El Hachem posted a cryptic video on his social media, showing a herd of sheep circling a fire, accompanied by the caption: “Watch a live application of the herd theory, where the effect of the group on the behaviour of individuals is shown without the need for any explanation.”

The video seemed to playfully allude to the gossip surrounding his personal life.

Despite the mounting rumours, Lebanese journalist Elie Merheb took to Instagram to publicly deny the reports of a split.

Merheb, who is close to the family, reassured fans, writing: “May God protect Nancy Ajram, her husband, and her daughters. There is no divorce, no disagreement, and no problems. The story is the story of a new song and video clip.”

Following the rumours, Anghami, the popular music streaming platform, posted a teaser for Ajram’s upcoming video clip for her song “Toul Omri Nejma” (I’ve Always Been a Star).

The teaser, which included a scene where Ajram appears to sign divorce papers, put an end to the swirling rumours, revealing that the song itself dealt with themes of separation and new beginnings.

Ajram and El Hachem, who tied the knot in Cyprus in 2008, have three daughters together: Mila, Ella, and Lya.

The couple had previously faced public scrutiny when El Hachem was involved in a legal case after fatally shooting a masked intruder who broke into their home in 2020. El Hachem was acquitted of any wrongdoing in the incident.
