Five people have been confirmed dead and at least 22 others injured in Be’er Sheva on Tuesday morning after Iran fired six missiles at Israel hours before the start of a ceasefire.
Rescue teams have been conducting a room-by-room search across three large residential buildings.
Magen David Adom emergency services reported at least 22 people were injured to varying degrees. Several have been taken to Be’er Sheva’s Soroka Hospital, which was badly damaged by an Iranian missile last Thursday.
Speaking to media at the scene, Israel Police Southern District commander Chaim Bublil, called it a “complex incident,” noting that “a major barrage was launched toward the district around 6am.
“One missile made a direct hit on a residential building in Be’er Sheva, causing extensive damage. Additional buildings were damaged by the blast.”

He added: “We have received no reports of missing persons but we want to be absolutely certain. The fatalities occurred because of a direct strike and unfortunately, even the fortified shelters suffered severe damage.”
Shortly after the missile strike, additional sirens were heard across central and southern Israel.
