Hamas announced it is ready to release an Israeli-American hostage, Edan Alexander, and the remains of four other dual nationals, following indirect ceasefire negotiations.
These talks, which resumed this week in Doha with mediation from Qatar, come after the first phase of the truce between the two sides ended on March 1 without an agreement on subsequent stages. As negotiations continue, Hamas has reiterated its commitment to the initial ceasefire agreement and its plans to extend the truce by another 60 days, in exchange for the release of more Israeli hostages.
Despite these efforts toward negotiation, Israeli forces continued their deadly assaults on Gaza, with at least two children killed in Gaza City and Beit Lahiya. The violent attack comes as the 13th day of Israel’s total blockade on humanitarian aid into the Strip unfolds.
Meanwhile, mass graves containing 180 bodies, including 50 unidentified individuals, were discovered near Al-Shifa Hospital, intensifying international calls for independent investigations into potential war crimes. The war’s death toll continues to rise, with Palestinian officials estimating at least 61,700 deaths, the majority of them women and children, and thousands more presumed dead under the rubble.
