Israel has issued a large scale displacement order for Gaza’s southern city of Rafah towards al-Mawasi, continuing its brutal offensive as Palestinians mark Eid al-Fitr and the end of Ramadan.
The Israeli military’s Arabic language spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, said that the army would “resume intense combat operations” in Rafah, with Israeli Army Radio describing the order as the most “extensive evacuation since the resumption of fighting”, according to Al-Jazeera.
In the central and northern areas of the Gaza Strip, Israeli attacks killed five people and wounded others, according to Palestinian news agency Wafa, which is reporting that three people were killed in shelling on al-Masdar and two were killed in Jabalia.
Another four were killed in shelling on Khan Younis refugee camp, the agency also said, alongside two killed in the town of Abasan al-Kabirah.
Meanwhile, the US has continued its airstrikes against Yemen’s Houthis in a bid to force them to stop attacking international shipping passing through the Red Sea. Yemen’s Ministry of Health said the attacks, which began on 15 March, have killed 59 people including women and children.
