Israeli raids on Gaza kill 23 as UN says it’s relocating staff

Israeli attacks on Gaza killed 23 people on Tuesday morning, the pan-Arab news network Al Jazeera reported.

The strikes were largely concentrated in the central and south of the Gaza Strip, amid a brutal Israeli offensive into the southern city of Rafah.

The UN Secretary-General announced on Monday that a third of the global body’s 100 international staff in the enclave would be temporarily relocated. The decision comes after a UN compound was struck by an Israeli tank shell in Deir el-Balah, killing a Bulgarian staffer and wounding six others. 

Likewise, the International Committee of the Red Cross said on Monday that that its offices in Rafah were damaged after being struck by an “explosive projectile”. 

In Syria, Israeli airstrikes killed five people in Daraa province and also hit the the T4 and Tadmur military bases in the Syrian desert.
