Princess Iman of Jordan and her husband Jameel Thermiotis have welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Amina, the Jordanian Royal Court announced.

The couple, who married in March 2023, shared a set of photographs celebrating their daughter’s arrival.

Queen Rania of Jordan, Iman’s mother, took to Instagram to share the joyous news, posting images of the newborn alongside her parents and grandparents.

“My darling Iman is now a mother,” Queen Rania wrote. “We’re grateful and overjoyed to meet Amina, our family’s newest blessing. Congratulations, Jameel and Iman – may God bless you and your precious little girl.”

The heartwarming images include Princess Iman and her husband gazing at their newborn, while King Abdullah II and Queen Rania are seen holding their granddaughter for the first time.

Princess Iman, 28, is the second daughter of King Abdullah II and Queen Rania. She wed Jameel Thermiotis, a Venezuelan-born Greek financier, in an elegant ceremony last year at Beit Al Urdun Palace in Amman.

Amina’s birth follows another joyous addition to the Jordanian royal family – last summer, Iman’s elder brother, Crown Prince Hussein, and his wife, Princess Rajwa, welcomed their first child, a daughter named Iman after her aunt.

Despite being born into the Hashemite royal family, Princess Iman and her daughter are not in line for the Jordanian throne, as Jordan’s constitution limits succession to male heirs.

The Hashemite dynasty’s hereditary laws dictate that the crown passes from King Abdullah to his eldest son, Crown Prince Hussein, and then through direct male descendants.

Iman’s pregnancy was first announced in January, when Queen Rania shared a touching image of the princess and her husband at sunset, with Iman visibly pregnant. The Queen captioned the post: “Both are dear to my heart, but the coming one is more precious… May God bless them.”

The Jordanian royal family has experienced a series of major milestones in recent years, with Crown Prince Hussein’s wedding to Saudi-born Princess Rajwa in 2023, followed by the birth of their daughter in August 2024.
