Election Day is finally here. Some 78 million people have cast early ballots, including many U.S. citizens living in Israel. It feels like 78 million polls have been conducted, most of them showing the closest presidential race in memory. In swing states like Pennsylvania and Michigan, voters have been barraged by television and online ads, many paid for by Jewish groups, as well as some nefarious text messages focused on the war in Gaza.
The candidates, in their closing arguments, both promised to bring that war to an end. First, we’ve got to bring this election to an end, which may not happen for days.
So our journalists will be live-blogging all the Jewish angles throughout this epic day of nail-biting. We’ll bring you voices of Jewish voters, wisdom from rabbis ancient and modern, exit poll data, real-time analysis, insights from our archive and, when — if? — we have them, early results. We may also be asking you some questions. Please check in throughout the day, and share this article with your friends and family. (Catch up on yesterday’s live blog items.)
Whatever happens, we’ll be here to help you make sense of it, through a Jewish lens.
