Mask Off Maersk, Global Day of Action: March 18

Views:

March 18 is the Global Day of Action against Maersk’s arming of genocide. It is also the shipping giant’s Annual General Meeting, where 2 resolutions demanding a stop to military cargo shipments to Israel are up for vote. The Day of Action is to show Maersk that staying in business with a pariah state is a long-term liability. Join or organize an action in your city.

The Canadian BDS Coalition and International BDS Allies have sign-on to the Mask Off Maersk Campaign to hold Maersk accountable for its role in the genocide of Palestinian people and demand that they cut ties with the genocidaires like the zionist state of Israel.

The below information/article is from the Mask Off Maersk campaign.

Logistics giant Maersk has quietly shipped millions of pounds of deadly weapons and military cargo to Israel, fueling its brutal assaults in Gaza. Governments have failed to act, leaving Palestinians to be starved and slaughtered. But we won’t stand by.

We’ve filed a shareholder resolution with partners, set for a vote on March 18th calling on Maersk to enhance its human rights due diligence and stop the transfer of these deadly weapons.

If we all follow the steps below, we’ll have the power to force Maersk to stop fueling genocide.

1. Are you a Maersk shareholder, or do you happen to have a pension fund or mutual fund? If so, click here to urge the fund managers to vote in support of the shareholder resolution. It shouldn’t take more than a few clicks.

2. Send an email to Maersk’s Executives and Board members by clicking here.

The more of us that flood their inboxes, the more likely they will realize the whole world is watching how they address this critical resolution.

3. Flood Maersk execs and board members with comments on LinkedIn and social media. Find sample tweets and comments here!

Here are some talking points to help you, remember it is always better to personalize messages:

  • Urge Maersk executives to stop fueling violence: Maersk is enabling genocide by shipping millions of pounds of weapons and cargo to Israel.
  • Investors are demanding action: A shareholder resolution is on the table, calling on Maersk to stop enabling war crimes.
  • Maersk claims to care about human rights but continues to profit from crimes against humanity.
  • Reputation on the line: As executives and members of the ESG committee there is nothing socially responsible about genocide.
