A young Palestinian man has been shot dead after Israeli forces raided Jenin on Tuesday in the latest assault on the occupied West Bank city.

Jihad Alawneh, 23, was killed after the forces raided a building in the neighbourhood, the young man was later confirmed dead after reportedly being prevented from leaving the area for treatment. Another three Palestinians were also injured by Israeli soldiers.

Israeli forces expanded their assault on Jenin to the eastern neighbourhood of the city, having carried out 336 raids.

The forces deployed bulldozers, destroying streets, and forced residents out of their homes, while electricity was also cut due to the destruction. The army also closed the city’s southern entrance and detained a young Palestinian.

This comes as Israel continues with its assault on the occupied Palestinian territory for a 43rd consecutive day, killing 28 Palestinians and injuring dozens.

Almost 20,000 Palestinians have been displaced in the assault, and 120 homes have been destroyed.

In Tulkarem, Israel continued with its aggression in the region for 37 days, which has so far killed 13 civilians and displaced over 9,000 in Nour Shams camp and 12,000 in Tulkarem camp.

The has continued to besiege the refugee camps, preventing civilians from entering or exiting, raiding, destroying, and vandalising buildings, forcing residents out of their homes, and firing bombs.

Overnight, 10 Palestinians were detained by Israeli forces throughout the occupied region, including Tulkarem, Ramallah, and Nablus, having arrested over 14,500 civilians since October 2023.

Israel continues Gaza assault

A Palestinian was shot dead in Deir Al-Balah, south of the Gaza Strip, Al Jazeera reports. The military claimed it shot a person who they deemed an “imminent threat” after approaching its soldiers. The forces also opened fire in Khan Younis, south of the Gaza Strip.

This comes as Israel continues to block humanitarian aid from entering the enclave for the third day, spreading fear of food shortages and price hikes among Gazans, as Israel agreed to a US-backed proposal to “temporarily” extend the first phase of the truce after it came to an end.

Despite the first phase outlined a halt to all hostilities, Israel has killed over 110 Palestinians since 19 January.

The US’ Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff is reportedly planning to return to the Middle East to work out whether to extend the first phase of the truce or advance to the second phase, where talks have barely started.

Arab leaders are also meeting in Egypt to approve a counter-proposal to Trump’s plan, which calls for Gazans to be forcibly displaced and the territory “taken over” by the US.
