Restaurant defends ‘sick’ TikTok video showing missile strikes to promote kebabs

A north London restaurant has defended using footage of missile strikes on Israel to promote kebabs on TikTok, claiming it was “just social media marketing” and “not about the war,” after being contacted by Jewish News.

A post by the Lebanese Grill in Harlesden features footage of staff adding sauces to a row of prepared grilled meats, interspersed with video of rockets raining down.

When Jewish News called the restaurant, staff member Asam appeared to defend the footage, claiming: “It’s social media marketing, not for fun. How do you know if its Gaza or Israel? It’s not about the war or anything like this. Maybe the rockets are for Gaza or Iraq. Maybe it’s fireworks. Maybe it’s from a long time ago. We don’t talk about the war. We talk about the food. That’s all that we do.”

Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp MP told Jewish News: “It is sick that footage of rocket attacks on civilian targets is being used to promote a restaurant. Civilian deaths in any conflict are tragedies that should be treated as such. Trying to use them to promote a restaurant is totally unacceptable. Glorifying violence on this way has no place in a civilised society.”

The video, which has been ‘liked’ more than 100,000 times, has not been removed.
