Recently, it came to our attention that the Canadian media conglomerate Rogers has included the israeli/zionist channel i24 as part of its Xfinity TV package and also offering it as part of its free previews. It would a disservice to push misinformation and zionist hasbara at anytime, but it is heinous complicity to do it when the zionist project of israel has been profoundly de-legitimatized and at its most weakest due its escalation of genocide in Palestine since October 7, 2023.
For context, it was i24 News channel that started to spread the lie of “40 beheaded babies” to justify the genocide in Gaza. The “40 beheaded babies” talking point and false narrative surrounding it was used for months by western media outlets and zionist supporting personalities to justify genocidal destruction of Gaza till it was no longer convenient to repeat the lie in the facing of mounting counter evidence. It has also been reported that the ranks of i24 news are filled by former veterans of israeli occupational forces (especially from its military intelligence and PR operations) and maintain a revolving door with israeli military and government. i24 personnel also concurrently work with lobby and media groups in the “west” such as AIPAC and Deutsche Welle.
By promoting i24 News, as the International Court of Justice is pursuing a case of genocide against israeli, Rogers/Shaw are complicit and willful participants in israeli hasbara and spreading lies about Palestinians.
