Satellite images of Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza are being widely shared online, not only showing Israel’s brutal devastation of the city but also the Star of David etched onto a patch of agricultural land.

The images show a devastated city with destroyed buildings after the Israeli army obliterated large areas of the coastal enclave.

Observers speculated that the markings were done by a tank or bulldozer, while track marks can be seen near and around the area.

Footage previously posted by Israeli soldiers in Gaza has shown the military using vehicles to leave symbols and markings on the ground in Gaza.

It is unclear when the markings were made, however an earlier post on X from December 2024 shows them already in place.

The satellite images have been met with disbelief and shock on social media.

“Yes folks, this is real….Pull up Beit Hanoun in Google maps and see for yourself,” one user wrote while sharing a screenshot.

“It’s real. This is Beit Hanoun on Google Maps,” another user wrote.

“They’re [Israeli army] making sure to know who did this,” wrote another user.

Others highlighted the Israeli army’s misuse of religious symbols in their brutal war on the Palestinians.

“Jewish symbols used to declare total power, dominance and control. Then cry when people conflate crimes of Israel with a race and religion,” Double Down News said on X, reporting on the imagery

Elsewhere in Gaza, Israeli soldiers have been seen erecting giant Menorah candles on the rubble of destroyed buildings and drawing Jewish symbols in the houses of displaced Palestinians. In 2023, Israeli soldiers in the West Bank were accused of branding a Star of David on the head of a Palestinian detainee.

Israel launched a renewed assault an siege on norther Gaza on 5 October which lasted for 100 days, killing at least 5,000 Palestinians and further destroying civilian infrastructure.

Upon returning to their homes in the north, Palestinians were met with their homes reduced to rubble and entire neighbourhoods in ruins.
