The Syria Television Network, part of The New Arab‘s parent group Fadaat Media, is expanding its media footprint with the launch of Syria TV2 dubbed “Al-Thania,” set to begin broadcasting on the first day of Ramadan 2025, likely to fall on February 28 or 1 March.
Committed to enhancing its audience’s viewing experience and meeting their evolving needs, “Al-Thania” will offer a high-quality entertainment lineup that aligns with viewers’ interests while honouring the values, authenticity, and cultural identity of Syrian society, said a statement from the network.
“Al-Thania” aims to become a leading media platform catering to Syrian and Arab audiences by delivering new drama productions, entertainment, cultural, and heritage programs, alongside regular news updates throughout its broadcast schedule, the channel said, adding that this vision underscores the channel’s commitment to offering diverse, family-friendly content that resonates with the current chapter in Syria’s history.
According to Hamza Al-Mustafa, General Director of the network, the ongoing transformations in Syrian society demand media outlets capable of engaging with the new reality. The Syria Television Network, he said, seeks to retain its established political content audience while simultaneously attracting new viewers through high-quality entertainment and educational programming on the new channel.
“Media, with all its platforms and tools, carries a profound responsibility in fostering social cohesion, strengthening national identity, and reinforcing cultural heritage through content that is both engaging and meaningful — one that respects the audience and the homeland alike,” Al-Mustafa said in the press release.
“Al-Thania” will feature exclusive premieres of Ramadan 2025’s top dramas, spanning drama, comedy, and historical productions, alongside original entertainment shows and a diverse selection of social and religious segments.
Omar Al-Farouq, Director of the “Al-Thania” Launch Project, shared more details of the channel’s highly anticipated lineup:
“Our Ramadan programming includes the drama series ‘Underground – A Hot Season,’ starring Maxim Khalil, and ‘The Hero,’ directed by Laith Hajjo. Also on the schedule are ‘September Breezes,’ starring Sabah Al-Jazaeri, ‘Nafas,’ featuring Abed Ali, and ‘We Didn’t Change 2,’ produced by Metafora. These are all brand-new productions for 2025. In addition, the channel will air beloved, high-rated dramas from previous years, including the historical epic ‘Omar,’ directed by Hatem Ali, and the cult-favorite comedy ‘Dai’a Dai’a.'”
Meanwhile, Noor Al-Huda Murad, Director of Public Relations, said the channel’s mission to build a loyal audience base by offering premium, purposeful content. She affirms that “Al-Thania” will be the ultimate destination for fans of authentic Syrian drama and a top choice for viewers seeking diverse and meaningful entertainment.
“Alongside our carefully curated lineup of drama series from various production companies, ‘Al-Thania’ is also investing in original drama productions under the umbrella of our parent company, Fadaaat Media. This approach aligns with our long-term vision and builds on past successes, including ‘Smile, General!'” Murad added.
“Al-Thania” will be available on Nilesat 201 (7° West), Frequency: 11938 Vertical (V), Symbol Rate: 27500, FEC: 5/6.
The channel will also be available via digital streaming on its official website www.althania.tv and on the Alaraby+ app, ensuring a seamless and flexible viewing experience.
