In partnership with the Permanent Mission of Israel to the United Nations, the World Jewish Congress hosted a briefing for Jewish organizational leaders on the sexual violence committed during the October 7th terrorist attack.
The briefing featured members of the Israeli National Committee for Gender Violence of October 7, which integrates government efforts in the realm of sexual violence that took place during the terrorist attack. The committee includes representatives from the National Security Council, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Justice, Israeli Police and the IDF.
The closed-door session was wide-ranging, focusing on the state of the situation in the Middle East, the plight of the hostages, and Israel’s efforts to bring justice to the victims of the atrocities. The conversation also touched on the misleading anti-Israel narratives, including the systemic bias against Israel within the United Nations.
Officials emphasized the need to reject the false moral equivalency being drawn between Israel and Hamas, underscoring the importance of confronting such distortions.
They also stressed the importance of recognizing and ensuring accountability for Hamas’ atrocities on October 7th.
