NEW YORK – Following Amnesty International’s publication of a
report that falsely accuses the State of Israel of committing genocide
against the Palestinians in Gaza, World Jewish Congress President
Ronald S. Lauder released the following statement:
“The report from Amnesty
International gravely misrepresents the actions taken by Israel in the war
against Hamas in Gaza and serves as yet another attempt to isolate and
delegitimize the Jewish State.
“Amnesty makes no effort
to hide its willful ignorance of the threat Hamas poses not only to Israel, but
to Palestinians. By using human shields and deliberately placing innocent lives
in danger, Hamas weaponizes civilians as part of its effort to destroy the
Jewish state. The report also overlooks critical Israeli efforts to
protect innocent civilians and reduce harm, including the provision of
humanitarian aid and the evacuation of individuals from danger zones.
“One must question the
motivations of a so-called human rights organization that seeks to twist
reality and label the victims of terrorism as perpetrators of genocide, instead
of focusing on the urgent need to bring the hostages home.”
